How I booked 7 international flights for under $180

In February 2014, AirAsia’s BIG Points Deal was on, in which they offered some FREE and many very discounted fares for travel between Oct 2014 to June 2015. I had ZERO points on my BIG Points account, therefore I searched for those flights which offered flights for Zero Points.

airasia-bigshotdayAfter a little planning, I booked following flights:

  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) return,
  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Yangon (RGN) return
  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Phnom Penh (PNH) return
  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Singapore (SIN) one-way

all for travel in Jan/Feb 2015. I only had to pay Airport Fee and Taxes which amounted to a total of Pak Rs. 18,000 (~$180). There is a catch though, these flights only included the hand carry baggage allowance of 7KG plus a laptop bag/hand-bag.

When this was combined with my flight originating and ending in Pakistan, it costed me a total of around Rs. 81,000. Just to have an idea how cheap it was, the return flight ISB-SIN costs at least Rs. 80,000.

Such deals keep coming every year, so it is suggested that you subscribe to their email alerts or sign-up for BIG Shots here.
